📍 THE VENUE — LEADENHALL MARKET
Step into one of London's most breathtaking and historic covered markets — Leadenhall Market, built in 1881. With its stunning Victorian architecture, ornate painted ceilings and cobbled floors, Leadenhall is one of London's most beloved landmarks.
And here's a little bit of magic — Leadenhall Market was used as a filming location for Diagon Alley in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. 🧙♂️⚡ The very streets you'll walk through to reach our workshop were once walked by Harry, Ron and Hagrid!

🌿 WHAT IS JESMONITE?
Jesmonite is a water-based, eco-friendly composite material that looks and feels like natural stone or concrete — but is much lighter, safer to work with and kinder to the planet.
- Low in Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
- Solvent-free
- Eco-friendly and sustainably produced
- Pet friendly once fully cured

In our workshops we combine Jesmonite with the beautiful terrazzo technique — embedding colourful chips and textures into the material to create stunning, speckled, marble-like finishes. No two pieces ever look the same — yours will be completely unique to you. ✨

You're welcome to bring a drink to enjoy during the session — this is a BYOB workshop! Please note this is strictly one drink per person. 🥂
👗 WHAT TO WEAR
Aprons are provided, but please come dressed comfortably in clothes you don't mind getting a little messy. Jesmonite workshops can get wonderfully creative and we'd hate for your favourite outfit to suffer the consequences — so leave the dry-clean-only pieces at home! 😄
❓ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Who is this workshop suitable for? This workshop is suitable for anyone aged 16 and over. No previous experience or artistic ability is required — just come with an open mind and a willingness to get creative!
Q: Is there a minimum age requirement? The minimum age for this workshop is 16 years old. Participants aged 16–17 are very welcome but must be accompanied by at least one participating adult throughout the session.
Q: Do I need any experience? Absolutely not! This workshop is designed for complete beginners. Our instructor will guide you through every step from start to finish.
Q: What will I make? You will create your very own handcrafted Jesmonite eco resin tray, or pen pot using the stunning terrazzo technique. Every piece is unique — no two will ever look the same!
Q: How long is the workshop? The standard workshop runs for 2 hours, with a 3-hour option also available for a group session. Please get in touch at info@althackney.com to discuss your event.
Q: What should I wear? Aprons are provided, but please wear clothes you don't mind getting a little messy. Jesmonite workshops can get creative and we'd hate for your favourite outfit to suffer — so leave the dry-clean-only pieces at home!
Q: Can I book for a group, hen night or corporate event? Absolutely! We love group bookings. We cater for hen nights, birthday celebrations, corporate team events and private group bookings. Please get in touch at info@althackney.com to discuss your event.
Q: Can I request a specific colour or design? We provide a selection of colours and terrazzo chips on the day for you to choose from and personalise your piece. If you have a specific colour request for a group booking (minimum 6 people) , please contact us in advance and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Q: Will my finished piece be ready to take home on the day? Yes! Your finished tray, pen pot or festive ornament will be ready to take home at the end of the session. 🎨
Q: How many people can attend in one session? Sessions are kept intentionally small with a maximum of 8 people per workshop to ensure everyone receives personal attention and guidance throughout.
